A homeowner has revealed how she made her greasy oven door squeaky clean after she discovered a little-known feature that removes the glass in seconds.

The Australian woman said she had struggled to clean hard-to-reach areas of her 'double glassed' door of her built-in oven for more than 20 years.

However, her husband recently showed her a much simpler way to clean their Westinghouse oven by removing the glass from its frame.

Stunned by the revelation, she filmed her husband 'un-clipping' a hinge lock, before lifting the glass out without taking apart the entire door.

A homeowner has revealed how she made her greasy oven door look as good as new after her husband showed her a simpler way to clean the kitchen appliance

Once it's cleaned, they placed the glass back on the door frame, and clipped the hinges back into place again.

'Sorry for those of you that already knew this but OMG my mind has been blown,' the woman said in a Facebook group.

'Over 20 years of cleaning ovens and could never get the door cleaned properly because of the second layer of glass.

'Here I am scrubbing away trying to use paper towel and a skewer to get in between the two layers of glass, and hubby walks along and just un-clips it for me.

'I was so blown away by it... So for those of you that may have a similar oven with two levels of glass and didn't know how to remove it, attached is a video.'

She was so impressed with her gleaming oven, she shared a video demonstration of the removal process and a picture showing the results following a deep clean.

Her video amazed hundreds of people, with many saying they never knew they could remove their oven's glass doors for cleaning.

'Just tried my own oven door. Not for one minute did I believe I could do this. It works! It's true,' one amazed woman said.

Another said: 'That's amazing! Thanks so much! I just checked mine and it worked. I can't believe I never knew this,' while one added: 'Life saver! You just changed my life... just went and checked and yes, the glass pops out.'

Many were shocked that it took this long to discover the simple cleaning trick.

'Why has it been kept secret? How much time, pain and frustration would that knowledge have saved? Wow,' one woman said.

While another added: 'I'm a professional cleaner. I do this when cleaning ovens. I thought everybody just knew this.'

Despite the removal process, others warned not all oven doors can do this.

'Only some oven doors un-clip. Others are held together with screws but it's a complete game changer though,' one said.

Experts recommend using safety gloves to protect your hands and reading your oven's instruction manual before removing the door as some steps vary per the model of your appliance.
