Jude Bellingham may be denied an England call-up this month.

The Borussia Dortmund teenager was set to be selected in Gareth Southgate’s squad for this month’s World Cup qualifiers against Albania, Poland and San Marino.

However,  it is understood Dortmund are considering blocking him from travelling for the three matches.

The 17-year-old will not be exempt from quarantine rules under German law and, according to the Guardian, Dortmund have informed England they are now reluctant to release him.

Bellingham – one of Dortmund’s best midfielders this season – would be forced to isolate for 14 days upon his return to Germany.

That would rule him out of a crunch period for Dortmund, including both their Champions League quarter-finals.

Dortmund’s reluctance to let Bellingham leave for international duty will provide another headache for Southgate, with first choice goalkeeper Jordan Pickford earlier ruled out of the three qualifiers with a muscle injury.

The Three Lions’ established number one was forced off just before half-time of Saturday’s surprise 2-1 loss to Burnley in the Premier League.

Pickford underwent a scan on Monday and Everton have now confirmed he will miss this month’s England triple header ‘after sustaining an injury to his oblique abdominal muscle’.

The 30-cap goalkeeper was a key part of the side that went onto reach the World Cup semi-finals in 2018 and will be absent as Southgate’s men kick off their qualification campaign for Qatar 2022.
